This British Railways Lion and Wheel Cap Badge is made in our Birmingham factory. Available in all Regional colours. It is an exact replica of those worn on workers uniforms. Supplied with a shank fixing and a cotter pin for attaching to standard Railway Caps. Affectionately known as the Cycling Lion, the lion and wheel was introduced following the nationalisation of the Railways in 1948 from 1950 the British Railways lion and wheel emblem was introduced for the tender and tank sides of the locomotive. Two forward facing designs were used on either side of the tanks side to always face the leading edge of the locomotive.
