This British Railways Totem Cap Badge is made in our Birmingham factory. All regional colours are available. It is an exact replica of those worn on workers uniforms. Supplied with a shank fixing and a cotter pin for attaching to standard Railway Caps. Following the nationalisation of the Railways in 1948, the totem was introduced as an instantly recognised insignia of the British Railways. That year also saw the introduction of the lion and wheel emblem for the tender and tank sides of the locomotive. Two designs were used so that the loin would always face the leading edge of the locomotive. Each Region was represented by a specific Totem colour.
