This Type A 25 KV A.C. Electric Locomotive badge is traditionally made, hand finished and enamelled. The Class 88 was the first AC Electric locomotive used by BR on the West Coast Main Line. The locomotives were buit by Associated Electrical Industries at Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company between 1959-1964. The locos configuration was Bo-Bo with a Continuous 4 847 hp (632 kW) power output. Number 81002 is the only preserved Locomotive.
